Robert Hampe,Philson Hinebaugh III Obituary, Death;- Just one day prior to the first anniversary of a tragic accident that resulted in the deaths of three construction workers in York County, the driver of the box truck involved has been formally charged.
Court documents submitted on Wednesday reveal that 25-year-old Reed Davenport from Maryland is facing several serious charges, including:
– Three counts of third-degree murder
– Three counts of homicide by vehicle while under the influence
– Three counts of homicide by vehicle
– Additional related misdemeanors and summary citations
Davenport is alleged to have caused the fatalities of the construction workers on April 17, 2024, after reportedly falling asleep at the wheel while driving southbound on I-83 near mile marker 35.5, as stated by State Police.
It is claimed that Davenport was “traveling at a speed that exceeded what would be deemed reasonable and prudent when entering an active work zone.”
The deceased workers have been identified as:
– Robert Hampe, 42, from Myersdale
– Philson Hinebaugh III, 24, from Johnstown
– Jesse McKenzie, 24, from Somerset
WJAC had previously interviewed McKenzie’s family shortly after the incident. Davenport is currently awaiting his preliminary hearing.
