Jonathan Adamow Obituary, Death; – A man has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of Jonathan Adamow, the son of a firefighter from New York City, on New Year’s Eve.

Charles Michael Hickman III is accused of fatally shooting Adamow on December 31, 2024; however, court documents indicate that Adamow was not the intended target. Hickman III was apprehended on April 7 by United States Marshals. Following his arrest, he was placed in a police interview room in Seattle, where he was informed of his rights. He subsequently penned an apology letter to Adamow’s family, which included the following statement:

I apologize for my actions; I did not intend for anything to happen to your son or anyone else, and I wish my actions and thought process had been much better. Authorities have yet to recover the weapon used in the murder or determine who the actual target was that night. Hickman III remains in custody with a bail set at $2 million.

The shooting occurred around 3 a.m. at the intersection of East Pike Street and Broadway. Surveillance footage captures Hickman III positioned behind a utility pole on Pike Street before he shot Adamow. The video further depicts the shooter fleeing the scene, shortly followed by a white car departing the area.

Thanks to a witness who viewed the surveillance footage, law enforcement was able to identify Hickman III as the shooter. This witness was also present at the 76 Gas Station just before the incident took place.
