Shalamar Davis Jr Obituary, Death; – Authorities have confirmed the identity of the victim in a fatal shooting that occurred in North Omaha.

Law enforcement officials responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, near the intersection of North 52nd and Pinkney Street. Upon arrival, they discovered two male individuals, aged 15 and 20, who had sustained gunshot wounds. Both victims were promptly transported to Nebraska Medicine for medical care.

The 15-year-old, later identified as Shalamar Davis, Jr., succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, as confirmed by the Omaha Police Department on Wednesday.

While the Omaha Police have not released additional information regarding the ongoing investigation, they indicated on Tuesday that they are actively searching for the shooter, who fled the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement.

In response to the incident, three nearby educational institutions—Benson High School, Monroe Middle School, and Fontenelle Elementary School—were placed on “secure” status, a precaution that was lifted approximately 40 minutes later, according to Omaha Public Schools.
