Tiana Smith Obituary, Death; – The Lake County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identity of an 18-year-old woman from Zion who tragically lost her life after being struck by two vehicles in Wadsworth on Friday night.

Tiana Smith succumbed to blunt force injuries resulting from the incident, which occurred around 11:45 p.m. on Dilleys Road, just south of Wadsworth Road, as reported in a news release from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. Upon arrival, deputies discovered Smith lying deceased in the roadway.

Initial investigations indicate that Smith was cycling north on Dilleys Road when she was struck from behind by a northbound GMC SUV. This impact caused her to be thrown from her bicycle, which subsequently became lodged beneath the SUV, whose driver then fled the scene.

Following this, Smith was struck by a southbound Hyundai Elantra, operated by a 23-year-old man from Waukegan, who has been cooperating with the investigation, according to authorities.

As of Monday afternoon, law enforcement has located and secured the GMC SUV, and the driver has been identified as a 32-year-old man from Winthrop Harbor. However, police have not yet disclosed the driver’s name or indicated whether any charges have been filed against him, as stated in the coroner’s office news release. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Team is continuing to investigate the incident.
