Rachel Garcia Obituary, Death; – On Friday morning, law enforcement officials confirmed the identity of the woman who was fatally stabbed on Wednesday night.
The Orlando Police Department (OPD) identified the victim as 46-year-old Rachel Garcia. Anita Hernandez, aged 51, was apprehended and subsequently booked on charges of second-degree murder and the use of a weapon in the commission of a felony on Thursday.
Officers responded to the vicinity of South 7th and Bancroft Street shortly before 9 p.m. on Wednesday, where they discovered Garcia suffering from stab wounds. Emergency medical personnel transported her to a hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries, according to OPD.
An affidavit reveals that Hernandez informed the police that Garcia confronted her while she was documenting construction work. Following this encounter, a physical altercation ensued between the two women.
The affidavit further states that Hernandez retrieved a pocket knife she carried with her but claimed she did not recall stabbing Garcia. However, she reported hearing Garcia exclaim that she had been stabbed and subsequently noticed blood on her hands.
Hernandez was taken into custody at the scene, and the investigation remains ongoing.
