Caroway Dominic Obituary, Death; – A murder suspect, accused of shooting several individuals in Quincy, including a deputy, was identified on Monday following his death in a shootout with law enforcement last week.

Caroway Dominic, 44, from Arizona, was killed on Friday during a confrontation with SWAT in Live Oak after leading authorities on a manhunt shortly before, as reported by the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office. His identity was confirmed through biometric identification methods, including the Automated Fingerprint Identification System, facial recognition technology, and databases from the Arizona Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Division, according to GCSO Colonel Bobby Collins.

The manhunt was initiated following a fatal armed robbery that occurred the previous night in Quincy. Dominic was alleged to have shot four individuals during the robbery, resulting in the deaths of two victims, as stated by a spokesperson for the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.

Colonel Collins indicated that Dominic appeared to have acted alone, with no known accomplices or affiliations. Gadsden County Sheriff Morris Young remarked in a statement on Monday that the suspect “received what he deserved after taking the lives of innocent individuals and injuring three others.”

During the encounter with law enforcement on Friday, the 44-year-old shot a deputy from the Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office in the foot and vest, according to SCSO reports.

On Monday morning, SCSO confirmed that the injured deputy is recovering well. The manhunt prompted a shelter-in-place order for residents in Suwannee County in the vicinity of U.S. 90 West, north of U.S. 90, and east of 129th Road, as stated by a spokesperson for SCSO. Additionally, the Suwannee County School District was placed on lockdown due to the ongoing police activity. Further information is being sought.
