Robert Tveite Obituary, Death; – The Hood River County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the recovery of the body of a man who had been reported missing while hiking on Mt. Hood.
Robert Tveite, a 38-year-old resident of Portland, intended to hike the Cooper Spur trail on Saturday and was expected to return later that same day. When he failed to arrive as planned, his family notified authorities of his absence.
Search efforts were initiated by volunteers from the Hood River Crag Rats, along with aerial support from the sheriff’s office, leading to the discovery of Tveite’s deceased body. A recovery operation took place on Monday, involving assistance from both the Crag Rats and Portland Mountain Rescue. The sheriff’s office has not disclosed the cause of Tveite’s death.
