Terry Taylor Jr Obituary, Death; – Authorities in Michigan announced on Thursday that a newlywed couple has been charged in connection with the death of a groomsman who was struck by a vehicle on their wedding day.
According to police, the groom, James Shirah, was driving the SUV that collided with Terry Taylor Jr. in Flint on August 30. Police reported that following the wedding, Taylor became involved in an altercation, which resulted in him being deliberately hit by a large SUV traveling at a high speed.
Shirah, aged 22, faces a charge of second-degree murder. The Genesee County public defender’s office indicated on Thursday that no attorney has yet been assigned to the case.
Taylor, 29, was identified as a groomsman. David Leyton, the county prosecutor who has served for 20 years, remarked, “I’ve never encountered anything like this. While I have seen instances of individuals being run over, this incident occurred almost immediately after a wedding.”
Leyton noted that the wedding took place at a pizzeria, and the argument transpired at a residence where the festivities continued. He stated that Taylor was in the street in front of the house when the SUV struck him.
The bride and groom left the scene and did not report the incident to the police until the following day, complicating the investigation. Shirah is currently being held in jail without bond, while his 21-year-old wife has been charged as an accessory and posted bond on Wednesday.
