Samuel Reed Gray Obituary, Death; – The Kern County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identity of an elderly man who lost his life in a collision in November as 75-year-old Samuel Reed Gray from Roseburg, Oregon. According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded to a two-vehicle accident on Hageman Road at Martin Avenue on November 5, 2024, at approximately 3:10 a.m.
The preliminary investigation conducted by CHP revealed that a 70-year-old man from Roseburg, Oregon, was operating a 1973 Jeep while towing a trailer, traveling eastbound on Hageman Road, just east of Martin Avenue. Concurrently, a semi-truck driver was heading westbound on Hageman Road, approaching the location of the Jeep.
For reasons that remain unclear, the Jeep driver veered left into the westbound lane, directly into the path of the semi-truck, resulting in a collision. Samuel Reed Gray, the driver of the Jeep, was pronounced dead at the scene.
