Nolan Ward Obituary, Death; – Authorities have confirmed the identity of a man who was fatally shot by a Greenville police officer on Monday evening. The deceased has been identified as 27-year-old Nolan Ward, a resident of Greenville.
According to police reports, Ward was shot after he aimed his firearm at the officers present at the ECU North Recreational Complex. Officer Brandon Gilbert, who has served in the department for two years, has been placed on administrative duty.
Law enforcement officials stated that they responded to a request for assistance from ECU police following a report of an individual with a gun who was allegedly threatening self-harm at approximately 4:30 p.m.
The State Bureau of Investigation is currently looking into the circumstances surrounding the officer-involved shooting.
