Ricky Jerome Guinyard Arrested; – A 36-year-old individual has been convicted following an attempted armed robbery during which he shot the victim. Ricky Jerome Guinyard, a resident of Rockford, has been found guilty of aggravated battery with a firearm, armed robbery, and being an armed habitual criminal after a jury trial.
In the early hours of December 25, 2023, law enforcement responded to the 1300 block of Broadway after receiving reports of a shooting incident. Upon their arrival, officers discovered a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim informed the officers that a man resembling Guinyard approached his vehicle and demanded his possessions. When the victim refused, Guinyard shot him; the incident was recorded on surveillance footage.
Guinyard is set to receive his sentencing on March 7, 2025.
