Vickie Avant Obituary, Death; – The Omaha police have identified the woman who lost her life in a four-vehicle collision that took place on Dodge Street on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred near the University of Nebraska Omaha campus at the intersection of 62nd and Dodge streets around 7 a.m.
According to investigators, a Ford Mustang, operated by 23-year-old Terrell Turner, was heading westbound on Dodge Street when he executed “two rapid lane changes.” Subsequently, Turner accelerated, resulting in the rear of the Mustang swinging out and colliding with a Hyundai Tucson, which was being driven by 69-year-old Vickie Avant in the adjacent westbound lane, as reported by Omaha police.
The impact caused the Tucson to be pushed into an eastbound lane of Dodge Street, where it was struck by a Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 41-year-old Robert Lindeman. This collision subsequently involved an eastbound Ford Ranger, as detailed by investigators.
Medics from the Omaha Fire Department pronounced Avant deceased at the scene, according to Omaha police. Lindeman was transported to the University of Nebraska Medical Center with minor abdominal injuries, as stated by authorities.
Omaha police have indicated that the investigation into the crash is ongoing, and charges are forthcoming. Dodge Street between Happy Hollow and 63rd Street remained closed until approximately 11 a.m. while the Omaha police conducted their investigation into the incident.
