Martavion Howard Obituary, Death; – The Winnebago County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identity of the 32-year-old pedestrian who lost his life in a hit-and-run incident on the Auburn Street Bridge on Friday.
Martavion Howard, a resident of Rockford, was discovered lying in the roadway at approximately 7:45 p.m. after being struck by a vehicle, as reported by the coroner’s office. He succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter at a nearby hospital.
Authorities indicate that the vehicle involved in the collision fled the scene. Consequently, the Auburn Street Bridge was temporarily closed to traffic while law enforcement conducted their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. The inquiry into the circumstances of Howard’s death remains active.
