Lonnie Dale Stewart Obituary, Death; – The individual from Billings who lost his life while attempting to cross Central Avenue earlier this week has been named.

Lonnie Dale Stewart succumbed to multiple blunt force injuries, as confirmed by Yellowstone County Deputy Coroner Valerie Juhl on Wednesday. The Billings Police Department is actively investigating the hit-and-run incident that resulted in Stewart’s death.

On the evening of September 2, as reported by the Gazette, Stewart was traversing the roadway in the vicinity of the 2400 block of Central Avenue when he was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound. Emergency responders transported Stewart to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The driver of the vehicle, a 39-year-old male, initially fled the scene but later approached a Montana Highway Patrol trooper that same night to report the incident. He has since been cooperative with the Billings Police Department’s investigation. According to data from the Montana Highway Patrol, at least seven pedestrians have lost their lives on Montana’s roads this year.
