Kristine Andrews Obituary, Death; – Authorities identified a woman who suffered fatal injuries in a hit-and-run incident in Springfield, which resulted in her body being thrown into a cemetery, as a 36-year-old resident of the city, Kristine Andrews.

Andrews succumbed to her injuries on Monday after being struck around 7:45 p.m. at the intersection of Boston Road and Berkshire Avenue, as stated by prosecutors. This location is situated just outside St. Michael’s Cemetery.

According to police reports, Andrews was walking in the vicinity when she was hit, and the force of the collision propelled her body. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a statement, Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni expressed his condolences to Ms. Andrews’s family. Nathan O. Colon, an 18-year-old, is alleged to have fled the scene and was apprehended shortly after 9 p.m. on Monday at a nearby residence.

On Tuesday, he was arraigned in Springfield District Court on charges of leaving the scene of a personal injury accident resulting in death and motor vehicle homicide due to reckless operation, to which he pleaded not guilty. His bail was established at $10,000 in cash or $100,000 in bond, as reported by officials and court documents.

Colon is currently detained at the Hampden County House of Correction and is scheduled to return to court on October 3. His attorney, Dale E. Bass, was unavailable for comment on Wednesday.

Judge Bethzaida Sanabria-Vega noted that Colon had informed his mother that his vehicle had been stolen, despite possessing the key fob during his police interview, where authorities also located his car. She observed that he appeared to have injuries consistent with airbag deployment. While Colon does not have a prior criminal record, the judge remarked on his “terrible driving record.”
