Nicole C. Romeo GENERAL; – Authorities report that a police cruiser in Sussex County was struck by a driver under the influence of alcohol. On Tuesday, Sparta police arrived at the scene of an accident on Route 15. While two officers were evaluating the initial damage, a gray Ford collided with the patrol vehicle.
Responding authorities quickly identified the driver as 43-year-old Nicole C. Romeo from Hamburg. During the interrogation, officers detected the odor of alcohol and noted her slurred speech. Romeo reportedly confessed to consuming a glass of wine earlier that day, mentioned that she had been looking at her phone just before the collision, and acknowledged that she did not possess a valid driver’s license. She now faces multiple charges, including driving while intoxicated and driving with a suspended license.
