Daniel Miller Obituary, Death; – Officials from the Butte County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) have confirmed the identity of the skateboarder who tragically lost his life due to a collision with a vehicle in Chico last week. BCSO Public Information Officer Megan McMann reported that the deceased skateboarder has been identified as 39-year-old Daniel Miller.

The incident occurred early on Thursday morning, January 9, at the intersection of Esplanade and Mission Ranch Boulevard in Chico. Officers from the Chico Police Department arrived at the scene at 2:07 a.m., where they discovered Miller in the roadway with severe injuries; he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver involved in the incident, a 21-year-old resident of Chico, remained at the location and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation, as stated by the police. Preliminary findings from the Chico Police Department indicate that Miller was skateboarding in the center of the road at the time of the collision.

The investigation is currently being conducted by the Chico Police Major Accident Investigation Team in conjunction with the Butte County Sheriff’s Office. Witnesses to the incident are encouraged to reach out to the Chico Police Traffic Division at (530) 897-4970.
