Silvestre Sandoval Romo,Guadalupe Ruiz Pina Obituary, Death; – Authorities have confirmed the identities of a man and a woman who tragically lost their lives in an ATV accident that occurred on Saturday morning in western Fresno County. The Fresno County Coroner’s Office has identified the deceased as 24-year-old Silvestre Sandoval Romo from Mendota and 22-year-old Guadalupe Ruiz Pina, who was his passenger.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place shortly after 6 a.m. on Santa Fe Grade, near West Shaw Avenue. Investigators report that Romo and Pina were operating a Yamaha Raptor Quad, traveling south on Santa Fe at a high rate of speed as they approached a stationary trailer. The CHP indicated that Romo failed to reduce speed and subsequently collided with the trailer.
Both individuals were pronounced dead at the scene and were not wearing helmets at the time of the accident. The investigation has yet to determine whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident.
