Zachary D Hatcher,Jeffery Hatcher Obiruary, Death; – Authorities have identified the two children and the man who lost their lives at a residence in Northland late Thursday night.
Officers initially arrived at the property located in the 1000 block of NW 91st Terrace around 9:45 p.m. to conduct a welfare check. Upon their arrival, the officers observed smoke emanating from within the home. Efforts to enter the residence were thwarted as a fire rapidly spread inside.
The police subsequently called for assistance from the Kansas City Fire Department, whose personnel promptly extinguished the flames. Once the fire was under control, officers entered the home and discovered Jeffery Hatcher, aged 8, and Charlotte Hatcher, aged 6, both suffering from gunshot wounds.
Jeffery was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital, while Charlotte succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Additionally, authorities found Zachary D. Hatcher, 38, also with a gunshot wound, who was declared dead at the scene.
The incidents involving the three individuals are currently being treated as a homicide investigation, according to police. Investigators are not seeking any additional suspects but are focused on determining the events that led to these tragic deaths.
