Zachariah Zane Law Obituary, Death; – A 29-year-old man from Modesto lost his life on Monday in a single-vehicle accident on Highway 132, east of Waterford, as reported by the California Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred at approximately 4:15 p.m., just east of Rushing Road. Emergency responders arrived to discover a 2002 Ford pickup truck severely damaged on the north shoulder of the road, according to a press release from the CHP. The driver was found a short distance away and was declared dead at the scene.
On Tuesday, the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office confirmed his identity as Zachariah Zane Law, a resident of Modesto. The preliminary investigation by the CHP revealed that Law was traveling west on Highway 132 when the truck left the roadway, went onto the north shoulder, and subsequently overturned. He was ejected from the vehicle during the incident.
Authorities indicated that Law was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. “It is unclear whether drugs and/or alcohol played a role in this crash,” stated the CHP. “Seat belts, when used correctly, can significantly increase your chances of survival in a traffic accident.”
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
