Yonangel X Martinez Obituary, Death; – A man was fatally stabbed in a residence on the Southwest Side late Sunday morning, according to officials.
The victim, identified by the Cook County medical examiner’s office as Yonangel X. Martinez, was discovered in an apartment at 1418 W. 49th Pl. at approximately 11:20 a.m. on Sunday, suffering from a stab wound to the chest. The medical examiner’s office reported that Martinez, aged 33, resided on the same block where the incident occurred. An autopsy performed on Monday classified his death as a homicide.
Law enforcement stated that officers responded to a report of a stabbing at the apartment and found Martinez unresponsive. He was transported to the University of Chicago Hospital in critical condition and was pronounced dead around 1:25 p.m. on Sunday, as per the medical examiner’s office.
Authorities indicated that no suspects were in custody, and Area One detectives are currently investigating the stabbing incident.
