Yina Marcela Ramos Bello Obituary, Death; – A mother lost her life and her two young sons sustained critical injuries after their vehicle was struck by an SUV that ran a red light in San Mateo on Thursday evening, as reported by the police.

Officers from the San Mateo Police Department and the California Highway Patrol arrived at the scene of the accident at 6:17 p.m. near the intersection of Alameda de las Pulgas and Highway 92. They discovered two vehicles involved in the incident: a Toyota Prius and a Ford SUV.
The county coroner identified the driver of the Prius as 30-year-old Yina Marcela Ramos Bello from South San Francisco. She was declared dead at the scene.

At the time of the accident, her two sons, aged 5 and 7, were in the vehicle and were immediately taken to a local hospital due to their injuries. As of the latest update from the police on Friday, they were reported to be in critical but stable condition.
The driver of the Ford SUV was treated for minor injuries. Authorities have identified him as male but are currently withholding his name. He was the only occupant of the Ford.

Preliminary investigations by the police revealed that the driver of the Ford was exiting eastbound Highway 92 at Alameda de las Pulgas and did not stop for the red light. According to the San Mateo Police Department, the Ford collided with the Prius, which was traveling northbound on Alameda de las Pulgas with a green light.
“The police are actively investigating why the driver of the Ford did not stop for the red light, but we can confirm that he was not under the influence while driving,” stated the SMPD.

Following the crash investigation, both directions of Alameda de las Pulgas, along with the eastbound ramps to and from Highway 92, were reopened after being closed for about four hours on Thursday evening.
