Xavier Williams Obituary, Death; – A mother and her partner are currently facing murder charges related to the death of a 10-year-old boy with connections to Connecticut, according to law enforcement officials.

Authorities reported that the boy succumbed to injuries resulting from abuse while residing in Florida with his biological mother and her partner.

Investigators revealed that Kimberly Mills and a man brought the 10-year-old, later identified as Xavier Williams, to an emergency room in Tavares, Florida, on February 22, 2025. The child was found with extensive bruises and burns and received treatment from medical personnel.

The man, identified by police as Andre Walker, is Mills’ boyfriend, as stated by officials.

Initially, doctors indicated that the boy was in critical condition, uncertain of his chances for survival. He was subsequently airlifted to another hospital for further treatment but ultimately passed away due to his injuries.

Detective Courtney Sullivan of the Tavares Police Department expressed the emotional toll of the case, stating, “Many of us in our department are parents, and it was difficult not to become personally affected. I usually manage to maintain professionalism, but with such a shocking situation, it was hard not to feel something.”

Prior to the escalation of charges, Mills had been charged with aggravated child abuse, while her boyfriend faced multiple charges, including aggravated child abuse, being an accessory after the fact to aggravated child abuse, and tampering with evidence. Police noted that Mills had previously lived in Connecticut with Williams and his biological father, who still resides in the state.

Following the arrests, the biological father traveled to Florida and has remained there since, according to police reports.

Both Mills and Walker have entered not guilty pleas to all charges.

A candlelight vigil in memory of Williams is scheduled for this Saturday in downtown Tavares.
