William Schonemann Obituary, Death;- Officials from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office have announced that they have identified a suspect linked to the murder of a pastor in the New River region.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the MCSO indicated that the identified suspect is presently “in custody on unrelated charges in another jurisdiction.”

“Coordination among agencies is ongoing as we strive to advance the investigation,” a segment of the statement read.
Officials from MCSO did not disclose the identity of the suspect currently in custody, nor did they specify the jurisdiction in which the suspect is being held.

“We expect to have more details available for release in the upcoming weeks, which we hope will offer further clarity and progress in the case,” a portion of the statement indicated.

The background:
The victim in this case, identified as 76-year-old William Schonemann, served as a pastor at New River Bible Chapel. He was discovered deceased in his residence near 13th Avenue and Circle Mountain Road on April 28.

Authorities have maintained a level of confidentiality regarding the case, but they have previously mentioned that there were “unique, specific circumstances” surrounding it.

The pastor’s death has left the community feeling unsettled.

“We locked our doors last night. It’s just something we are not accustomed to doing. Everyone is on edge; until we understand what has transpired, we cannot ascertain whether it was a family member or someone else who could have committed this act against him,” stated Mike Anders in early May. Anders had been the pastor’s neighbor for 12 years.

Son recalls his murdered father
As news emerged that a suspect is in custody, we spoke with Schonemann’s son, Randy, who described his father as a loving individual and expressed gratitude for being one step closer to justice for their “Bill Built” family.

“This is just one more step in a very long journey ahead of us towards achieving justice, ensuring that this individual is prevented from committing such acts again,” Randy remarked. Randy noted that the reality of their loss is beginning to sink in.

“We have returned home and are adjusting to the absence of making those phone calls on my way home from work. Anyone with information regarding this case is encouraged to come forward.
