William McGill Obituary, Death; – William McGill passed away on November 17, 2024, after leaping from a bridge on I-485 in Charlotte, NC, in what appeared to be a suicide attempt. For updates, follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.
Around 10 p.m. on that evening, William was on an overpass bridge on I-485, where he began to hang from the structure, expressing intentions to take his own life. Motorists witnessed the distressing scene and attempted to assist him. Law enforcement was summoned, and authorities engaged in efforts to dissuade William from jumping.
The tragic incident caused significant traffic disruptions on I-485 and adjacent roadways for several hours. After unsuccessful negotiations, William ultimately jumped from the bridge onto the interstate, resulting in his immediate death. Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene to clear the area of blood and remains. William was raised in the West Blvd. neighborhood of Charlotte and is survived by a loving family and friends.
