Whitney Camp Obituary, Death; – A woman who lost her life in a tragic two-vehicle accident in Boone County has been identified as 24-year-old Whitney Camp from Rockford, as reported by the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office. An autopsy performed on Thursday, June 12, confirmed that Camp succumbed to injuries sustained in the car accident, according to a news release.
Preliminary findings from an investigation by the Boone County Sheriff’s Department indicate that Camp was killed and four others were injured in a collision that occurred at 3:42 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10, at the intersection of Spring Creek and Shaw roads in Boone County.
A 2015 Cadillac SRX was traveling westbound on Spring Creek, while a 2025 Nissan Sentra was heading eastbound on the same road. The Cadillac reportedly failed to yield while attempting to make a left turn onto Shaw Road, as per the preliminary investigation results from the Boone County Sheriff’s Department.
The driver of the Cadillac received treatment and was released at the scene. All five individuals in the Nissan, including Camp, were taken to a local hospital. Camp, who was a passenger, was later pronounced dead at the hospital. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
