Wanda Murray Obituary, Death;- A relative of the woman who was fatally shot on Thursday near the Walmart in Durango has identified her as Wanda Murray, aged 67, from Durango.
The woman and her attacker, whose identity remains unknown, were transported to Mercy Hospital on Thursday afternoon after the man allegedly shot the woman before turning the firearm on himself, as reported by the Durango Police Department.
Both individuals were declared dead on Thursday evening.
The Durango Police Department has provided limited information regarding the shooting, apart from what has been shared on its Facebook page.
In a post on GoFundMe, Durango resident Savannah Chavez stated that Murray is her grandmother. GoFundMe has confirmed the legitimacy of the fundraising initiative.
Chavez aims to collect $3,000 for her grandmother. She characterized Murray as “a light to everyone she encountered and an amazing human being.”
Chavez mentioned that Murray’s alleged assailant was an abusive ex-husband.
“My life has always been quite complicated, and I’ve climbed a lot of mountains, but Wanda was and still is my rock,” Chavez expressed on GoFundMe. “The thought of living without her is absolutely sickening, but together we can and we will.”
