Victor Fooks Obituary, Death; – A minor will be tried as an adult for the November 2023 homicide of a hotel manager in Hazelwood. After a certification hearing held on Wednesday morning, St. Louis County prosecutors have charged 17-year-old Kharon Brown with second-degree murder, first-degree assault, and two counts of armed criminal action in connection with the death of Victor Fooks.
Following the hearing, Brown was processed at the St. Louis County Justice Center, where the court established a bond of $1 million, cash only. He faces charges alongside Jaylin McElroy, 20, and Marshaun Brinkley, 18, both residents of Florissant, who are facing the same charges as Brown in this case.
According to court documents and previous reports from First Alert 4, Hazelwood Police responded to the InTown Suites at 9067 Dunn Road around 11 p.m. on November 25, 2023, where they discovered Fooks suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities indicated that the suspects were involved in a confrontation within a hotel room and were subsequently asked to leave. Fooks and another individual, referred to in court documents only by initials, followed the suspects to the parking lot to ensure their departure, as stated in the documents.
Brinkley is alleged to have approached Fooks and the other individual while brandishing a firearm. McElroy and Brown, positioned a short distance away, are also accused of drawing their weapons. As the situation intensified, all three suspects reportedly discharged their firearms at the two men, injuring both, according to court records. The suspects fled the scene but were apprehended shortly after the incident. Trial dates for all three individuals are yet to be determined.
