A human head found on a Florida beach has been identified as belonging to Victor Enrique Castaneda Jr., a 19-year-old swimmer who went missing on Saturday, November 9, as reported by law enforcement officials. Castaneda was last seen at Key Biscayne beach around 6 p.m., which led to a three-hour search operation involving Miami Beach Fire Rescue, the Police, and the U.S. Coast Guard, according to WSNV.

Despite the extensive search efforts, Castaneda was not located and was subsequently entered into the missing persons registry. On Tuesday, authorities discovered a human head behind Ocean Sound Key Colony, prompting an immediate investigation.

The Miami-Dade County Medical Examiner confirmed on Friday that the remains were those of Castaneda, although the cause and manner of death have yet to be disclosed.

The Miami Herald reported that Castaneda had vanished into the ocean while swimming with his younger sister. Jessica Castaneda expressed her grief on Facebook, stating, “The pain I’m left with is insurmountable. My heart is completely and irreparably shattered. Your absence will never be accepted. No words could ever describe how much I love you, Victor.” The Miami Beach Police Department and the medical examiner have not provided comments to The National News Desk.
