Valerie Zamora Arrested; – A Moorhead Mother has been arrested for 2nd Degree Murder after the death of her 20-month-old child.
Moorhead Police confirming that 32-year-old Valerie Zamora was arrested in Fargo, and will be held in Cass County Jail until she can be extradited to Moorhead. The victim has been identified as Jose Zamora.
The child’s death was reported to Moorhead Police as suspicious back on May 16 after an alert from the Cass County Coroner’s Office. The body was sent to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. The preliminary results of that autopsy indicated the cause of death was homicide.
The Moorhead Police Department was assisted by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Clay County Attorney’s Office, Clay County Sheriff’s Office and the Fargo Police Department.
The investigation is ongoing and there is no other information to release at this time.
