Valeria Marquez Obituary, Death; – On May 13, a man fatally shot Valeria Marquez, a 23-year-old Mexican TikTok influencer, during a livestream, prompting investigators to treat her death as a femicide case.
The Jalisco State Attorney’s Office has classified the incident as a murder motivated by gender. Marquez was at a beauty salon in Zapopan, Jalisco, when the assailant entered and shot her. Emergency responders confirmed her death at the scene. Although no suspect has been identified, investigators are collecting evidence and testimonies, including her social media interactions.
Forensic experts are examining the site, and her body has been sent for an autopsy. Marquez frequently posted modeling and travel photos and worked at the salon where she was killed. During her livestream, she expressed concern about an unexpected visitor with a gift. Moments before her death, she was seen with a stuffed toy and mentioned, “They’re coming.”
A voice called out to her, and after confirming her identity, she muted the stream, shortly before being shot. The livestream ended with someone taking her phone. As of May 15, her social media following has surged, reaching over 250,000 followers on Instagram by noon.
