Tyreke Martez Johnson,Montez Dallas Watson Obituary, Death; Authorities have – identified the two individuals who lost their lives in a collision on Monday, June 9, near Jackson.
Montez Dallas Watson, a 30-year-old resident of Sterling Heights, was driving west in a box truck on I-94 when it collided with the rear of a semitrailer beneath the Airport Road overpass in Blackman Township, according to Blackman-Leoni Township Department of Public Safety Director Darin McIntosh.
The collision resulted in the deaths of Watson and his passenger, Tyreke Martez Johnson, a 22-year-old from Warren. Both individuals were declared dead at the scene, McIntosh reported. The semitrailer was transporting two trailers loaded with gravel, as stated by the police. The driver of the semitrailer sustained no injuries.
McIntosh noted that at that time of day on the highway, it was likely that the gravel hauler had slowed down due to heavy traffic. The police are uncertain as to why the driver of the box truck failed to stop, he added. The highway was closed for approximately seven hours while crews worked at the crash site. The overpass itself was not affected.
