Travis Buchanan,Candace Buchanan Obituary, Death; – A family of four from North Carolina, which included two children of school age, tragically lost their lives when their small aircraft crashed while returning from Florida.
The National Transportation Safety Board announced that an investigator from the agency was anticipated to arrive on Tuesday at the crash site, which is situated in a field near some trees to the northeast of Sanford, North Carolina.
The state Highway Patrol has identified the deceased as Travis and Candace Buchanan, both aged 35; their 10-year-old daughter Aubrey; and their 9-year-old son Walker. According to a news release from the patrol, three of the four individuals died at the scene, while the fourth was declared dead at a hospital.
There were no survivors from the crash involving the Cirrus SR22T aircraft, which an NTSB official stated occurred shortly after 1:30 p.m. under circumstances that are currently unknown. The aircraft will eventually be retrieved and transported to a facility for further examination, as indicated by the agency.
The Raleigh Executive Jetport, located a few miles north of the crash site, mentioned in a social media update that the aircraft was based at their small airport.
Records from the Federal Aviation Administration list Travis Buchanan of Sanford as the owner of the plane. The aircraft took off from Merritt Island, Florida, around 11 a.m. on Monday and was last tracked at approximately 1:30 p.m. near Sanford, according to the flight-tracking service FlightAware. Sanford is located about 40 miles (64 kilometers) southwest of Raleigh.
WRAL-TV reported that the Buchanan family owned Buchanan Farms in Sanford. Abraham Garcia, who has worked for Travis Buchanan at the farms for over eight years, stated, “he helped me all the time.” He mentioned that the family was returning from the beach.
Grace Christian School in Sanford posted on its Facebook page that Travis and Candace Buchanan were the parents of Aubrey, who is a fifth-grader this fall at the school, and Walker, who is set to enter the fourth grade.
