Tracy Simpson Obituary, Death; – Authorities in Washington, D.C. have identified the individual whose remains were retrieved from the Anacostia River following an incident on Monday in which he fell from a boat. The deceased has been named as 63-year-old Tracy Simpson.
On November 18, at approximately 6:30 p.m., dive teams from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) and DC Fire and EMS were dispatched to the District Yacht Club, located at 1409 Water Street, after a report of a man falling overboard.
According to police reports, Simpson was in the process of securing his boat to the pier when he accidentally fell into the river. A bystander attempted to rescue him by diving in but was unable to locate him. Rescue teams conducted a search of the water for over an hour in an effort to find Simpson, but their attempts were unsuccessful.
As night fell, divers encountered challenging conditions, including poor visibility and strong tidal currents. Given the duration Simpson had been submerged, the search operation transitioned from rescue to recovery. The search continued for several hours, and shortly before 11 p.m., Simpson’s body was located in the water. He was subsequently brought to the shore, where he was pronounced deceased.
