Timothy Maney Obituary, Death; – A man from Chemung County has died after being hit by a motor home while riding his bicycle on Wednesday, August 6, in the Town of Horseheads.
The victim has been identified by the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office as 75-year-old Timothy Maney, who resided in Elmira. According to the sheriff’s office, the incident occurred shortly after 4 p.m. at the intersection of Lake Road and Owens Street.
An investigation conducted by the sheriff’s office’s road patrol and criminal investigation division revealed that Maney was cycling southbound on the shoulder of Lake Road when he unexpectedly entered the driving lane and was struck by a 2025 motor home that was also heading south.
Maney sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, where he subsequently passed away, as reported by the sheriff’s office.
Investigators concluded that Maney was at fault for the accident, and no charges will be brought against the motor home driver, according to the sheriff’s office.
The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office received assistance at the scene from the Elmira Heights Police Department, Elmira Heights Fire Department, and Erway Ambulance.
