Telisa Holder,Racquel Freeman Obituary, Death; – A suspect in a double homicide died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound Tuesday as officers executed a warrant, according to the Department of Public Safety.
In a statement Wednesday, DPS said the U.S. Marshals Task Force and the Capitol Police Warrants Division executed a felony arrest warrant at a residence on Alta Vista Boulevard for Lewis Powell, 31. Upon making entry to take Powell into custody, officers discovered he was deceased from what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Powell was wanted in connection with the July 6 double homicide of 34-year-old Telisa Holder and 35-year-old Racquel Freeman.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation will serve as the lead agency for the death investigation of Lewis Powell.
