Telford Jaymar Quinn,Christopher Henderson Arrested; – A man who was arrested for the murder of a homeless individual in April is asserting his innocence from within the confines of a jail cell.
Four individuals, including Antonio Telford Jr., are implicated in this atrocious act, allegedly using a hatchet to kill Leotha Patton III and subsequently incinerating his remains.
According to court documents, Telford, Jaymar Quinn, Christopher Henderson, and Zamir Nelson are all facing charges of open murder.
A criminal complaint indicates that Patton was murdered in the early hours of April 13. His remains were discovered the following morning along railroad tracks on the 1500 block of A Street, near Owens Avenue and I-15, after a 911 call was made.
It was not until June 4 that the Las Vegas Metro Police Department apprehended a suspect in the case, which turned out to be Telford.
“I am unaware of the allegations being made, but I am doing my utmost to contest this situation,” Telford stated from the Clark County Detention Center, where he is being held without the possibility of bail.
The criminal complaint reveals that “Antonio produced what they believed to be a bat, likely retrieved from his tent, and began to strike Leotha on the head while he was asleep on a mattress.”
“I had a single interaction with him, and it was merely over a cigarette,” Telford remarked from CCDC.
All individuals charged in connection with the murder, including Patton, appear to be homeless.
Patton’s remains were discovered burned along the railroad tracks on the 1500 block of A Street. Surveillance footage was instrumental in the police’s decision to arrest the four suspects.
The criminal complaint notes that when questioned by law enforcement, “Antonio acknowledged himself as one of the individuals in the video walking west on Owens just before the murder took place.”
In a jailhouse interview with 8 News Now reporter Joshua Peguero, Telford refuted claims of being near the murder site, asserting that he was in rehabilitation that evening.
“There is video surveillance that [detectives] possess of you, and it appears they have footage of all four of you heading towards the train tracks. Are you aware of what they are referring to?” Peguero inquired.
Telford responded, “They may have me walking towards the tracks, but I was not involved in the incident.”
