Taymor McIntyre now faces a potential life sentence with the possibility of parole for the murder of 23-year-old Mark Anthony Saldivar, which occurred in 2017. Previously, McIntyre was serving a 55-year sentence for another fatal shooting. Prosecutors argued that McIntyre shot Saldivar during an attempted robbery after inviting him to take photographs for a new song.

McIntyre’s defense team criticized the police investigation, claiming it relied excessively on biased witness statements from individuals present in the vehicle during the incident. One of McIntyre’s attorneys, John Hunter, asserted during closing arguments that McIntyre is innocent of capital murder, murder, or manslaughter, emphasizing the inadequacy of the investigation.

The jury acquitted McIntyre of capital murder, which would have resulted in a life sentence without parole, and will now proceed to the sentencing phase of the trial. Additionally, McIntyre was previously convicted in 2019 for the shooting death of 21-year-old Ethan Walker during a home invasion in 2016 in Mansfield, Texas. Notably, McIntyre recorded “The Race” while evading law enforcement for the home invasion.
