Taylor Hendershot Obituary, Death; – A murder suspect is currently in custody following a shooting incident that occurred on Tuesday afternoon in Vincennes.
According to police reports, just before 1 p.m., officers were dispatched to the parking lot of Cardinal Liquor Store located on N. 6th Street in response to a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a woman, later identified by the coroner as 30-year-old Taylor Hendershot, suffering from gunshot wounds. Authorities state that the suspect, identified as 32-year-old Dylan A. Smith, fled the scene in a black SUV.
Vincennes Police reported that a damaged Black Cadillac Escalade was located a block away from the shooting site. The investigation directed officers to a residence near the location of the accident. Police indicated that the occupant of the residence was able to exit and confirm that Smith was inside, armed with a knife.
After a standoff lasting several hours, Smith was taken into custody and charged with Murder. Currently, a mugshot is not available. An autopsy has been scheduled, and the investigation remains ongoing. We will provide further updates as this story develops.
