Sylvester Person Obituary, Death; – The Delaware State Police have identified the 67-year-old cyclist who was fatally injured in a hit-and-run incident on July 26 near Milton.
Sylvester Person, a resident of Milford, was riding his bicycle on Sand Hill Road, close to Burton Road, shortly before 7:45 a.m. when he was struck from behind by 22-year-old Tahrie Calloway, according to police reports. The collision resulted in Person being thrown into the grass.
Following the collision, Calloway fled the scene, as reported by the police. He and his vehicle, a Honda Accord, were located approximately one mile north of the accident site by emergency medical personnel.
During the investigation, troopers found that the damage to the Honda was “consistent” with the collision. Additionally, Calloway exhibited signs of alcohol consumption, according to police statements. Person succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital, while Calloway was taken into custody. As of July 28, he remained incarcerated with a cash bond set at approximately $18,000.
