Steven Perez,Donna Gushwa Obituary, Death; – The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office has provided updated details regarding a four-vehicle collision that resulted in the deaths of two individuals on Friday morning at the intersection of County Road 40 and County Road 17.
According to police reports, a 24-year-old man from Wakarusa was traveling east on County Road 40 when he failed to stop at the stop sign. His vehicle collided with two others, one operated by 21-year-old Steven Perez from Elkhart, and the other by 69-year-old Donna Gushwa from Milford, both of whom were traveling south on County Road 17.
Following the initial impact, Perez’s vehicle overturned and struck another vehicle driven by a 59-year-old woman from Elkhart who was heading north on County Road 17.
Authorities indicate that Perez was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from his vehicle.
Both Perez and Gushwa were declared dead at the scene.
The 24-year-old and the 59-year-old were subsequently transported to the hospital.
