Steven McKnight Jr Arrested; – A father from Zion is confronting several felony charges related to the death of his 5-year-old son, as reported by the sheriff.
In November, 5-year-old Sy’mere McKnight lost his life in an accident on Green Bay Road, just north of Hart Street in Beach Park, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
Steven McKnight, Jr. has been identified as the driver of the Chevrolet Malibu, according to officials.
Officials indicated that two young boys were passengers in the Malibu. Neither child was secured with a seatbelt; it was reported that a two-year-old was seated on the driver’s lap.
McKnight collided head-on with a GMC Sierra, which was operated by a 57-year-old man from Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin.
Months following the tragic accident, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office apprehended McKnight in connection with the fatal incident.
He faces charges including two counts of aggravated DUI, reckless homicide, endangering the life of a child resulting in death, and four counts of aggravated DUI.
