Steven Funk Obituary, Death; – The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation has confirmed the identity of the individual who was shot and killed by law enforcement during a domestic disturbance in Knoxville last week.
As reported by the DCI, 47-year-old Steven Funk, a resident of Knoxville, was assaulting a woman when officers responded to the residence located in the 300 block of Roche Street shortly after 11 p.m. on August 21. During the confrontation, an officer discharged their weapon at Funk, who subsequently succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Des Moines.
The woman received treatment and was later released from a local medical facility.
The officer from Knoxville who was involved in the incident has been placed on critical incident leave in accordance with departmental policy. The DCI is actively continuing its investigation into the matter.
