Stephen M Hayes Obituary, Death; – Hood River Police have apprehended two individuals in relation to the fatal incident involving a man who was killed on Friday afternoon.
Police reported that they arrived at the intersection of 5th and June Street at approximately 3:46 p.m., where they found a man lying in the street. Despite the efforts of paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigations revealed that the victim was fatally injured while attempting to prevent thieves from stealing items from his vehicle. A press release identified the victim as 38-year-old Stephen M. Hayes, who was struck by the truck of the suspects as they attempted to escape.
On Saturday, April 12, 2025, authorities arrested William Edward Hardy, 36, and Elizabeth June Bowman, 41. Both individuals face charges of second-degree manslaughter, first-degree robbery, theft, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. They are scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
