Skye A Oraczewski,Shakena Shamae Taylor-Pannell Obituary, Death; – All three individuals involved in a head-on collision very early Sunday morning on Interstate 464 have lost their lives, as reported by Virginia State Police.
At approximately 2:33 a.m., authorities were summoned to the scene of a crash on I-464, which involved two vehicles, one of which was a 2024 Ford Econoline ambulance. The ambulance, owned by Midwest Medical of North Carolina, was heading south on the highway when it was struck head-on near the Military Highway exit by a 2022 Lexus sedan that was traveling north in the southbound lanes, according to a news release from state police. The impact resulted in both vehicles igniting.
Both the driver and a passenger in the ambulance succumbed to their injuries after being transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, police reported. The passenger, seated in the front, was identified as Stephen Michael Anderson, 53, from Trenton, North Carolina. The driver, Skye A. Oraczewski, 22, from Elizabeth City, passed away late Sunday night.
The driver of the Lexus, Shakena Shamae Taylor-Pannell, 39, from Virginia Beach, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are investigating alcohol and speed as potential contributing factors to the crash, according to police.
The collision resulted in the closure of the southbound lanes of I-464 for several hours.
