Siddharth Mukherjee Obituary, Death; – A man from the Houston area lost his life on Sunday night after being hit by a vehicle while entering traffic on Interstate 10 in East El Paso. This incident marks the fourth pedestrian fatality on the freeway in El Paso within a span of less than a month.
The tragic event took place at 9:40 p.m. on Sunday, November 17, in the eastbound lanes of I-10, close to the Zaragoza exit, according to police reports. Siddharth Mukherjee, 38, from Humble, Texas, was fatally struck as he crossed into the path of a white 2021 Cadillac operated by Haifeng Xiao, 48, of El Paso. Two passengers were present in Xiao’s vehicle at the time of the accident.
Authorities have not provided information regarding the circumstances that led Mukherjee to be on the highway. This incident represents the 61st traffic-related fatality in El Paso for the year, in contrast to 71 fatalities recorded at the same point last year, as reported by police. At 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 16, a 33-year-old woman and a 15-year-old girl were struck by two vehicles while exiting the freeway into Downtown El Paso from westbound Interstate 10. Their identities have not been released.
At 5:53 a.m. on October 30, a woman named Rachel Kelly Villalobos, 45, from Central El Paso, was lying on a freeway entrance ramp to I-10 West near Piedras Street. When a vehicle from the Texas Department of Transportation approached, Villalobos stood up and ran onto the freeway, where she was subsequently hit by three vehicles, according to police.
