Sheryl Turley Obituary, Death; – A 41-year-old man from Independence, Missouri, who has been charged with the 2022 murder of a woman in Kansas City, was apprehended on Tuesday in Cass County.
As reported by the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, deputies, in collaboration with Kansas City police officers and the United States Marshals Service, arrested Richard Holliday at the intersection of State Route 291 and 175th Street in Pleasant Hill at approximately 12:45 p.m.
The sheriff’s office indicated that Holliday was sought under two warrants from Jackson County, one pertaining to homicide and the other to burglary. In 2023, Jackson County prosecutors formally charged Holliday with second-degree murder in connection with the killing of 38-year-old Sheryl Turley in March 2022.
Court documents reveal that on March 1, 2022, officers from the Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department were dispatched to East 91st Street and Old Santa Fe Road following a report of a woman’s body found in a remote, wooded area.
The deceased was later identified as Turley. According to the charging documents, the victim had been shot and killed. On Tuesday, the sheriff’s office transported Holliday to the Jackson County Jail, where he is currently being held without bond.
Holliday is set to appear in court for a pre-trial conference at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, October 31, with a jury trial scheduled to commence on Monday, November 17, at 9 a.m.
