The suspect, 17-year-old Trinity Goodwin, has been apprehended by the Richland County Sheriff’s Department. She is facing charges as an adult for murder and for possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
The RCSD stated that deputies were dispatched to the 2000 block of Faraway Drive on Tuesday in response to a knife-related altercation. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a woman, later identified as Walker, who had sustained stab wounds. Walker passed away after being transported to a hospital.
An incident report indicates that Goodwin allegedly engaged in a confrontation with her relatives that began outside but escalated inside the apartment. She reportedly retreated to the kitchen and armed herself with a kitchen knife for self-defense.
At this moment, it remains unclear whether Walker had any familial ties to Goodwin.
Goodwin was taken into custody after witnesses allegedly informed deputies of her whereabouts. Furthermore, the teenager reportedly admitted to the murder during the interrogation, as per the deputies’ statements.
