Shelby Hurd Obituary, Death; – The individual who was shot and fatally wounded by a woman during a home invasion on Friday night has been identified.
The Will County Coroner has confirmed the identity of the man as 36-year-old Shelby Hurd. According to Joliet police, the woman heard someone breaking into her residence located in the 7000 block of Hadrian Drive. She retrieved a firearm and her child, and both took refuge in a bedroom closet on the second floor.
Police reported that when the suspect entered the bedroom, the woman discharged her weapon, resulting in Hurd’s death. The suspect, who is not known to the victim, was found to be wearing gloves and was in possession of a screwdriver at the time of the incident.
The investigation into this matter is still ongoing.
