Shawn Anthony Poolman Obituary, Death; – The Washington State Patrol (WSP) has reported that a 40-year-old man from Bellingham lost his life in a single-vehicle accident near the Clinton ferry terminal on Whidbey Island this morning, November 26th, at approximately 8:50 AM.
As per a press release from WSP, the individual was operating a black 1995 Nissan Maxima southbound on State Route 525 at a high speed when the vehicle veered off the road, collided with a tree, and came to a stop about 30 feet from the roadway.
The driver, identified as Shawn Anthony Poolman, aged 40 and residing in Bellingham, was pronounced dead at the scene. It was noted that he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident. A passenger, a 40-year-old woman from Clinton, was unharmed and was confirmed to be wearing her seatbelt.
Excessive speed has been identified as the primary factor in the accident, while the involvement of drugs and/or alcohol remains undetermined.
